Ten Fallacie

Some examples:

  1. What he says couldn’t be true because he’s a Russian businessman.
  2. Thailand likes tourists more than Cambodia, so clearly there is tension between the two countries.
  3. The success of my research depends upon accepting this idea. If you reject this course of action, many people will suffer.
  4. American politicians are not trustworthy because you cannot believe what they promise.
  5. Can an appeal to wordiness ever really prove correctness? Why do tighter word limits in journals improve writing? Can shortening overlong text bring sense to nonsensical writing?
  6. It is right to tell the truth so everybody has the right to hear the truth.
  7. You say that eCommerce in Thailand is growing, but aren't the social problems there growing even faster?
  8. You argue that social networks in Asia are economically important, but how could they be the most important thing? Surely basic manufacturing is the foundation of the economy.
  9. Making a Facebook page is opening your entire private life to the world, like leaving the door to your home unlocked all the time. All your privacy is at risk.
  10. If the government focuses on tourism then tourist money will flood into the country and stabilize the currency, provide jobs, and bring about a new era of prosperity.
